The owners of an attractive Grade II listed property required the provision of a bright and airy garden room to be located at the rear of the property.
Traditionally, listed buildings tend to be rather dark due to the small and limited window area and typical fenestration details found in properties in excess of 300 years old. This presented significant challenges in terms of architectural design. Detailed discussions took place with the local Listed Building Consent Officer.
Plans were submitted and Planning Approval and Listed Building Consent were obtained for a linked extension to the dwelling which provides ample light both through bespoke roof lights and purpose-made architectural joinery to provide a light, spacious and airy garden room which can be enjoyed by residents of the house throughout the year.
